Super Slammer Current Rules.

SLAM FORMAT
It is round robin and there is prize money! All players will be put into divisions (based on ranking and done officially by a "draw" with at least 2 slammer's supervising. After the divisions are announced all players have roughly two months (time varies) to play each person once. One arranges their own round robin matches at the venue and time as agreed by both players.

At the conclusion of the round robin stage the top two finishers (if a 4 player group) and the top 3 finishers (if a 5 player group) in each division qualify for the playoff stage: the round of 16.

Depending on the rr format there will be a predetermined number of LUCKY LOSER spots which are based on 1) sets won; 2)points won/lost ratio from all the players outside of the top 2 or top 3 qualifying range.

For the avoidance of doubt, the correct number of direct qualifying spots must be awarded from each round robin group.

If a player withdrawls from the R16 and thus leaves 1 qualifier short from their respective rr group then the next player in that group will automatically take up that position in the playoff draw.

There must be the correct number of automatic qualifiers from each round robin group(as agreed prior to start of each event)

From this point, it will be a standard knock out format until the winner is announced.

Once the first match has started in any playoff draw, then no replacement players can fill that respective draw.
Any withdrawls will thus mean a walkover for the effected opponent and while they get points for the win, they get no bonus points for that win.

SKILL LEVEL
We have expanded to two leagues with the highest ranked players in the “Super Slammer's Elite” and the next ranked players in the second division: “Super Slammer's Lower Division”. Both divisions are run the same way but the level of play is obviously higher in the upper division.
At the end of each Slam after the rankings have been updated, the top 5 Lower Division players get promoted to Elite. This is to keep the flow between divisions constant. Elite players are "safe" in the division insofar as the draw numbers allow it eg if it's a 25 player Elite draw then only the top 20 are safe (taking into account the 5 lower division promotions -- and occasionally Elite WCs are granted.
These rare Super Slammer “one off" Super Elite wild cards are issued at the Tournament Director’s discretion. The rule of thumb is that if a new player can comfortably beat a top 5 ranked player, then WCs are considered. Otherwise, all players start in the Lower Division. If not sure about level give us a call.

OTHER RULES

1. Warm-ups are restricted to 15 minutes max for all Slam matches and during Super Slammer organized matches there is no extended breaks on the changeover (due to limited court time). Enough time to dry down, drink water etc but no extended sit downs allowed.

2. Matches must begin by 15 minutes into the scheduled hour. Whilst self organized matches look after this themselves any Super Slammer organized matches start by 15 minutes and anyone arriving after 15 minutes will suffer a default.

3. Any incomplete matches need to be completed from exactly where the match finished. No scrapping. If match remains unfinished neither players get the win. One cannot “give a win” to a player if time runs out. This is unfair to other players in your division competing for playoff spots and anyone found doing this could be disqualified from slammer competition. A win must be a complete win.

4. The winner of each match decides who does the "match report" for the Super Slammer website. The match must be reported by e-mail/text to Superslammers.com and will be listed on-line.

5. One has 24 hours to cancel a scheduled match. Any earlier will be considered a default. The defaulted player is expected to cover any incurred court costs of any cancelled matches.

6. Nobody should have to chase to play matches. This is why Super Slammers has a “Three Strike Rule” known as “TSR”. It works as follows: During your round robin stage, one can ask the same player up to 3 times to play a match. You cannot ask more than once in any 10 day period. If you get declined 3 times by the same player you get a legit walkover. Unfortunately, players who create this kind of walkovers show lack of commitment and are likely to be disinvited to future Slam Events. The TSR is to protect you from incomplete Round Robin matches. But we try to be flexible for unexpected dramas. Just sending a e-mail/text and getting no reply is not enough. You need to get a decline and if you cannot get a player to reply to you one needs to notify Super Slammers of this problem straight away.

7. Nobody qualifies for the Playoffs unless they have played ALL THEIR ROUND ROBIN MATCHES. The only exception is injury and the “TSR” rule.

8. No walkovers are allowed (except injury) in the last 2 weeks of any Slammer Round Robin Period. This is where you use the TSR creation to protect yourself. Play/arrange/request early and you’ll be fine.

9. Have fun.
